The Tea Dragon Tapestry by Katie O’Neill | ARC Review

    20th July 2020
Cover of The Tea Dragon Tapestry (Katie O'Neill)

The Tea Dragon Tapestry (Tea Dragon #3) by Kay O’Neill

    • Publisher: Oni Press, 2020
    • Genre: Graphic Novel, Fantasy, Children’s Literature, LGBTQ+
    • Format: Hardcover (eARC)
    • Page Count: 128 pages
    • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)

The final instalment of Tea Dragon series brings the whole story to a beautiful end. It takes place one year after The Tea Dragon Society and many years after The Tea Dragon Festival. We get to see Greta, Minette, Erik, Hesekiel, Rinn, and Aedhan again. I totally recommend reading the previous books first for full enjoyment as I am unsure if this book would make sense as a standalone.

Heroes by Stephen Fry | ARC Review

    Cover of Heroes (Stephen Fry)

Heroes: The Greek Myths Reimagined (Stephen Fry’s Great Mythology #2) by Stephen Fry

    • Publisher: Chronicle Books, 2020
    • Genre: Mythology
    • Format: Hardcover (eARC)
    • Page Count: 352 pages
    • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)

Though the lightheartedness of the narrative does not align with my personal sense of humour, I really appreciate Fry’s attempt in making the stories simple and funny.

    Alexander McQueen by Andrew Bolton

    10th August 2018
Cover of Alexander Mcqueen Savage Beauty (Andrew Bolton)

Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty by Andrew Bolton with contributions by Tim Blanks, Susannah Frankel

    • Publisher: Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2011
    • Genre: Art
    • Format: Hardcover
    • Page Count: 240 pages
    • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)

My collections have always been autobiographical, […].

This book is incredibly stunning. Amazed by how intuitively precise McQueen was with his work, I find the stills in this book even more breath-taking. It was a similar awing experience to glimpse one of his designs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Fifth Avenue, several days ago.

A Thousand Mornings by Mary Oliver

    3rd August 2018
Cover of A Thousand Mornings (Mary Oliver)

A Thousand Mornings by Mary Oliver

    • Publisher: Penguin Press, 2012
    • Genre: Poetry
    • Format: Hardcover
    • Page Count: 82 pages
    • My Rating: ⭐⭐ (2/5)

I feel guilty for rating it 2 stars. While the thoughts and observance of nature are quite impressive, I have zero connection with Mary’s words. There are still a few lines here and there that I really liked, and I am happy that I had decided to pick up this book to read. However, while the praises for both this book and the poet are high, it is definitely not something that truly calls to me.

Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek

    9th March 2018
Cover of Leaders Eat Last (Simon Sinek)

Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek

    • Publisher: Portfolio, 2014
    • Genre: Business, Psychology
    • Format: Hardcover
    • Page Count: 368 pages
    • My Rating: ⭐⭐ (2/5)

The reason that I borrowed this book from my local library to read was because of Sinek’s ‘Millennials in the Workspace’ interview. As a millennial myself, even though I may not agree with him, I still consider him an interesting person who was brave enough to point out some of the problems and organise them into the short speech that subsequently went viral over the Internet. Naturally, I decided to read his book for more understanding of Sinek.

About Me

Lí-hó!! I am Hsinju (they/she), a Taiwanese book blogger, writer, and full-time grad student in engineering.
