    Do you ever feel like there is something missing in your life, like, maybe an ancient, noble Japanese sword who is by your side at all times? Even if you didn’t, I’m sure you do now. In this sequel of Cute Mutants, you can live vicariously through the mutants and see Onimaru “Oni” Kunitsuna (鬼丸國綱) work his magic.

    At the end of Cute Mutants Vol 1: Mutant Pride (my review here), Yaxley Corporation coerced the Cute Mutants into joining their training programs. Since we all know that powerful corporates and the government are often shady and cannot be trusted, nothing goes smoothly as the gang struggles to do what is truly right under Yaxley’s incessant tracking and fights fiercely to keep each other safe and alive.

    Did you know that this book was a Kickstarter project and initially self-published when Chambers was about twenty-nine years old? I didn’t. After hearing so many great things about the Wayfarers series, I finally picked it up, and stars, was it amazing!

    The story follows the Wayfarer crew as they travel through space for roughly one standard after getting offered a highly paid job of tunneling between Central space (Tokath Gateway) and Hedra Ka, the capital planet of the new Galactic Commons (GC) ally Toremi Ka.     Cute Mutants Vol 1: Mutant Pride (Cute Mutants Vol 1) by SJ Whitby

    Sometimes, I try to match the tone of my review to the voice of the book so that they give off similar vibes, but I could never achieve the level of joy this story brings. Cute Mutants Vol 1: Mutant Pride is a very queer (reps: lesbian, pansexual, transgender, etc.) and very racially diverse (reps: Korean, Kiwi-Chinese, etc.) version of X-men that is incredibly funny, quirky, and ridiculously good. If you want an exciting and fun read, definitely check this out.
