    • Genre: Poetry
    • Format: eARC
    • Page Count: 288 pages
    • My Rating: ⭐⭐ (2/5)

This is my first time trying Peppernell’s poems. I love her novel Keeping Long Island, which I am sure I talked too much about already. Unfortunately, I am unsure what I am feeling after finishing Stitching the Soul.

A Thousand Mornings by Mary Oliver

    3rd August 2018
Cover of A Thousand Mornings (Mary Oliver)

A Thousand Mornings by Mary Oliver

    • Publisher: Penguin Press, 2012
    • Genre: Poetry
    • Format: Hardcover
    • Page Count: 82 pages
    • My Rating: ⭐⭐ (2/5)

I feel guilty for rating it 2 stars. While the thoughts and observance of nature are quite impressive, I have zero connection with Mary’s words. There are still a few lines here and there that I really liked, and I am happy that I had decided to pick up this book to read. However, while the praises for both this book and the poet are high, it is definitely not something that truly calls to me.

    • Genre: Poetry
    • Format: Ebook
    • Page Count: 258 pages
    • My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐(3/5)

this is a collection of heaviness, disguised in few words that might be mistaken as lightness. yet how can poems sprung from the depth of heart ever be jolly and happy; they can only be warning and warming.

About Me

Lí-hó!! I am Hsinju (they/she), a Taiwanese book blogger, writer, and full-time grad student in engineering. Here, I mainly review books featuring authentically represented LGBTQ+ characters and/or written by LGBTQ+ authors. You’d usually find me going about life with my heart stuck in the last book I finished.
