WLW Wednesday is a bookish meme among bloggers who read sapphic books. Hosted by Sasha and Amber @ Sasha and Amber Read, we are encouraged share our recent wlw/sapphic reads every week or two.
As promised, I am posting biweekly no matter how bad my reading progress is as long as I had read at least one sapphic book. Since I am somewhat struggling to settle down after moving halfway across the globe and also a ton of brand-new schoolwork, I spent probably a total four hours reading one school-assigned book and one hour on leisure read over the past ten days. Not a great time for me, but I’m hoping to read at least one book per week from now on. I know! Compared to me reading four books per week a few weeks ago, it pains me to say that school does not grant me the luxury of reading that much anymore. But I am going to allocate “reading” time on my planner everyday, and hopefully work on time management to read and review more!
Also, it has been taking me a lot longer to get back to all the lovely comments to my posts and comments across the blogosphere. Please bear with me as I struggle to find balance in life and I promise I do love you all and want to interact with you as much as possible! Allow me about a week or two’s delay in catching up with all your amazing posts and wonderful comments! 💕💕
Over the past two weeks, I’ve read only one book, and thankfully it’s sapphic. For more info on Goodreads, click on the covers.
The Holiday Detour by Jane Kolven
Finished on 13 Sep 2020. Review on my blog.
This is about a lesbian being a complete damsel in distress while a genderqueer animal scientist (no, they are not a pig farmer) reaching out to help. I really appreciate Kolven telling their story because we need more genderqueer/nonbinary/trans+ leads in (sapphic) romance, and it truly was a fun read involving disastrous holiday misadventures. However, there are many things that had kept me from fully enjoying the book. For a more in-depth discussion on some misinformation from the characters, please read my full review.
I hope you had a better past two weeks than I had. Happy reading!
Have you read this book? What sapphic books did you read this week? Comment what you think!

I hope you can find a good balance with school.
Your review of The Holiday Detour was really thoughtful, sorry it wasn’t as enjoyable as it could’ve been.

Thank you so, so much, Dianthaa!! 💕💕 I’m hoping things will get better now that first midterms are almost over.
Thank you for reading! Yes, it was rather unfortunate, but I’m still very happy we’re getting more books with genderqueer/nonbinary characters. ☺️
