2021 Sapphic Releases from LGBTQ+ Indies

    4th September 2020

As a companion list to Sasha and Amber Read’s amazing “2021 – The Year of Sapphic Book Excellency,” here you will find scheduled sapphic releases in 2021 from LGBTQ+ indie publishers, including Bella Books, Bold Strokes Books, Bywater Books, Ylva Publishing, and several self-published authors. All information is provided by publishers and authors.

If you are looking for more new releases with strong women and feminist/queer themes, check out Women and Words’ monthly updated page.

The following list contains books featuring sapphic main character(s) and/or sapphic relationships. It will be updated accordingly as more information becomes available.

This is a passion project. I did not receive any compensation for this, nor are any of the links affiliated with any company.

    #5OnMyTBR — Disabled MC

    31st August 2020

Hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook, #5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme where we talk about 5 books on our TBR on Mondays. You can learn more about it in E.’s original announcement or #5OnMyTBR page.

    This week’s prompt: Disabled MC.

A lot of books with disabled main character(s) are written by non-disabled authors. But I want to amplify #ownvoices works only in this week’s #5OnMyTBR.

Below are 5 fictional works featuring disabled MCs by authors who share the same disabilities as their characters.

    WLW Wednesday — 26 Aug 2020

    26th August 2020

I think it is safe to say that WLW Wednesday has become a bookish meme among bloggers who read sapphic books. Hosted by Sasha and Amber @ Sasha and Amber Read, we are encouraged share our recent wlw/sapphic reads every week or two.

Last week was the first time I participated in WLW Wednesday, and I love how this meme provides us a platform to talk endlessly about sapphics.

    #5OnMyTBR — Ensemble Cast

    24th August 2020

Hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook, #5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme where we talk about 5 books on our TBR on Mondays. You can learn more about it in E.’s original announcement or #5OnMyTBR page.

    This week’s prompt: Ensemble Cast.

I don’t think I read many books with ensemble casts. The only two series that come to mind right now are Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo and The Gilded Wolves Trilogy by Roshani Chokshi. But I am sure there are more sitting on my TBR shelf, so here we go.

    Here & Queerathon 2020

    22nd August 2020

Here & Queerathon is hosted by Mel @ Cotton Candy Book Witch, and you can read about their announcement here. Throughout this year, we focus on reading books with LGBTQ+ reps or by LGBTQ+ authors.

Having only just stumbled upon Mel’s blog this month, I am excited to join this reading challenge even though it is already August. Since 2020 is the ultimate queer reading year for me, discovering Here & Queerathon now is perfect.

I am keeping this as a blog post, but it will be updated throughout the rest of 2020 and listed under “Reading Challenge” if you want to follow my journey.

About Me

Lí-hó!! I am Hsinju (they/she), a Taiwanese book blogger, writer, and full-time grad student in engineering. Here, I mainly review books featuring authentically represented LGBTQ+ characters and/or written by LGBTQ+ authors. You’d usually find me going about life with my heart stuck in the last book I finished.
